51% Attack
When more than half of the computer power or mining hash rate in a network is managed by a single person or a single group, then there can be a 51% attack.

AML
Refers to the fight against money laundering.

API
Application programming interface.

ATH
The All Time High corresponds to the highest value of the asset that it has reached in its history, in this case Bitcoin.

ATL
The All Time Low corresponds to the lowest value of the asset that it has reached in its history.

Address
Alphanumeric string representing a destination for Bitcoin payments (addresses are often displayed as scannable QR codes). Three bitcoin address formats are currently in use: P2PKH, P2SH, and Bech32.

Altcoin
Bitcoin is the first cryptocurrency created, the rest are Altcoins, (alternative coins).

Arbitrage
Consists of buying and selling the same asset in different markets or exchanges to take advantage of the price differences between them.

ARPANET
Advanced Research Projects Agency Network was created by United States Department of Defense. It was the beginning of what we know today as the Internet, until the transition to the TCP / IP protocol was completed.

Asset
An asset as an investment has a monetary value, the assets can be financial, physical, such as real estate, gold or dollars. A bitcoin is a digital asset.

BTC
The ticker symbol that represents the bitcoin digital asset.

Bear Market
When prices are expected to plummet, bears come into play.

Bull Market
Used to describe the trend of markets, bulls are bullish.

Bitcoin client
Software dedicated to receiving and sending bitcoins, the official client is Bitcoin Core which has the option of configuring it as Full Node.

Block Height
Value that indicates the number of blocks that precede a given block in the blockchain.

Block Reward
Number of coins earned by the miner or group of miners for solving the cryptographic problem.

Blockchain
Sequence of blocks with digital information stored consecutively the data is recorded permanently and unalterable forever.

Circulating Supply
Number of mined coins that are on the market.

Cold Storage
Offline storage of a cryptocurrency wallet, means that the wallet is not connected to the Internet.

Cold Wallet
It is not connected to the Internet, it may be hardware devices where the private keys are stored.

Confirmations
A transaction is considered confirmed when it enters a block in the blockchain, the following blocks will be additional confirmations for that transaction.

Cypherpunk
The cypherpunk movement promotes the use of cryptography to defend privacy.

Genesis Block
The first block that was generated on the Bitcoin network. It was mined by Satoshi Nakamoto on January 3, 2009. The first block created in the blockchain is called the genesis block.
